A terrible algae is on the march causing crops to fail and livestock to starve. Life out here... is a bit grim!"SETTING THE SCENEThe news that the Mentor, a teacher who passes on the secret knowledge found in the Books of Zyzagarus to the lost child has also gone missing, has sent shockwaves throughout the those in the know. They've watched helplessly as a green algae has taken up root causing crops to fail, wild storms to batter homes and defences all driving Marshland inhabitants underground. Only one way left to rectify this – Dare Crayson open the Book of Zyzagarus in his possession?PLOTCrayson and Switch have managed to escape with their book into the wider Marshlands aided by two freeloading mercenaries, a feisty native girl and her dope-fueled baccy smoking father. Together the group has travelled to the Palace of Queen Gertrude so that they may seek Her Majesty's help in protecting them and their prize, and further request to find the other missing books, a task to which Crayson seems obsessed. That's because he reveals himself to be the son of the Mentor, a person capable of reading the secret knowledge inside the books in the absence of the Lost Child. Or so everybody thinks.Yet all is not as it seems. Crayson is holding something back, it appears their group is being stalked on the horizon and a mysterious figure known only as the Rezzonator covets the remarkable secret that lies at the books' centre. Yet there is dissension in the ranks as the mercenaries just want their reward, the Chief wants to set up a drugs cartel at the Palace, and his native daughter has an agenda of her own – To kill Her Majesty. Just before she and the others are shot by Royal snipers, an uneasy alliance to find the remaining books is agreed, a mission of particular significance to Switch as only the Zyzagarus Book of Medicine, one of three yet to be found, will restore his memory. Her Majesty readily agrees to finance this new mission but on one mischievous condition; that this quest is led by Captain Cupide the very man who attacked their bunker and tried to take their book in the first place. LINES FROM BOOK 1Captain Cupide – "Your Majesty, why the awkward gate? Have you got a touch of thrush? I don't mind really.'Book Narration – "Bits of cannon fizzed across the deck in a circulatory unction of jumping shrapnel angst."Book Narration – "He quickly thought on the stonking guns he could buy, the top tavern totty he could tootle."Badgetti and Abucada (his son) – "Can you count?" "One, two, miss a few... 99, 100." "That'll do!"
