Born in 1483, the German monk and brilliant scholar Martin Luther came to certain conclusions regarding the nature of faith, which brought him into conflict with the Church. Luther's excommunication from the Church led to the formation of a new form of non-Catholic Christianity-Protestantism. Luther will long be remembered as a great religious leader and a magnificent embodiment of the fact that one man's determination to follow his conscience can change the course of history.
