In this story, Plaido, a defiant young Platypus confronts his forest demons but will he fight, flee or befriend them to get the upper-hand and avoid the perils of an oceanic adventure as well. We see the innate rivalry between species through the eyes of Plaido and the other characters, and feel the anguish when the ambience of their natural habitat is threatened.
The life of a Platypus is a mystery to most people because it is superbly adapted to its aquatic environment and is nocturnal. It's a living fossil that has lived virtually unchanged since the times of the dinosaurs and thought to be one of nature's first attempts to create a mammal but it tends to be out of sight and out of mind for most of us. Can a Platypus with an adventurous spirit quit the safety of a secluded rainforest pool and cope with the new challenge of freedom? We see how the whims of nature and a fast changing world affects the survival of Plaido and a bevy of new friends when they travel into unfamiliar territory.
